FIRST … Get Involved …
SECOND … How to Become a Member of Our Church
I am excited to share some of how people become part of our church.
First, some preliminary comments …
– Church membership is important. It shows commitment and investment in our community as part of the church family.
– I am really more concerned about involvement than I am about membership. I hope this is a place where you are part of work of the Kingdom.
– Also, more important, and a requirement for membership, is your relationship with Jesus. The Good News of Jesus is we all need forgiveness for our messed up life. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price we owed. Belief in Jesus is paramount. If you want more information or clarity on this – I would encourage you to let me know.
Now, how to join most Baptist churches.
There are 3 basic ways to join …
– By profession of faith, or telling us and all that you have made a decision to follow Jesus as your Lord and Savior. When this happens, we ask you follow in believers’ baptism.
– By Promise of a Letter from another church where you were a member. We will handle all the paperwork.
– By Statement – you declare to us you have been a Christian and have already participated in believers’ baptism. If you have never been baptized as a believer, we will discuss when we can do that as well.
All candidates for membership are presented by proclamation before a worship service. The pastor and a deacon will also meet with you … not as an interview, but just to get to know you and answer all questions. You will then be voted upon at a business meeting. Your anniversary for membership is when you originally declared to the pastor your desire to join.
Church Membership is important. And I am thrilled of your interest.
